“Flat and boring landscape”? I don’t think so…

Many commentators have moaned about hoe “flat”, “featureless” and “boring” the Phoenix lander’s scenery is compared to the rolling hills seen by the Mars rover Spirit, and the cliff-ringed interior of Victiria Crater currently being seen by Opportunity. Obvously they haven’t been making and drooling over 3D images like I have, because they show that the ground around Phoenix is anything BUT flat. If you look at this anaglyph of mine you’ll see very clearly that Phoenix is sitting on top of some kind of mound, or ridge, and there are other mounds and ridges, troughs and trenches all around it…
